Parent engagement Committee
The Parent engagement committee is tasked with creating a social norms campaign targeted at parents to increase the number of conversations between parents and older adolescents. Students in 7th grade report that 98% of them have had a parent or guardian talk to them about substance use, but only 8% of High School seniors report that their parents had talked to them about the negative consequences of drug and alcohol use. By utilizing Talk2Prevent and the Combat Heroin tool kit, the campaign will empower parents to have conversations about actual usage rates and parental expectations of zero substance use. Our meetings have already started, keep an eye out for our ads and events.

Drug Elimination Committee
4 of 5 people admitted for heroin treatment abused prescription medication beforehand. 9 of 10 substance use disorders started before the age of 18. The most common place for them to find that medication was right in their own home or the home of a 'friend or family member'. The Drug Elimination committee is looking to reduce the number of medications available through Monitoring, securing and destroying unused prescription medications. This includes our drop boxes, home disposal kits, and DEA take back initiatives.
