Social Norms Campaign - 2015
Social Norms Campaign - 2013
One of the major undertakings of CCFW in 2013 was the social norms campaign. The statistics for this campaign came directly from the students when they completed the Prevention Needs Assessment survey in 2012. The campaign was followed up in 2015 after new survey data was received.
What are Social Norms?
According to Dr. Wesley Perkins, Professor of Sociology at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, social norms are fundamental to human behavior. There is a strong tendency for humans to conform to what their peers are doing, and misperceptions can easily be translated into fact when a group of people erroneously believe a risky behavior to be the norm.
This campaign promoted the fact that the majority of teenagers do not drink alcohol or use marijuana, despite the common perception that most do. The campaign took place at middle and high school from March to June 2013.

Youth Prevention Survey - 2012
In partnership with The Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Council of Saratoga County, CCFW conducted the first Prevention Needs Assessment survey. Students in grades 7-12 took part in the survey. After the survey data was collected, student focus groups were conducted. The information gained from the survey and focus groups are what has guided the action plan set forth by the CCFW.
Familypalooza
CCFW developed and sponsored Familypalooza. Parents and local community agencies were invited to exchange resources and ideas, as well as learn about conflict resolution and character education.
Forum on Suicide and Depression - 2011
After partnering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, CCFW hosted a community forum to provide information about suicide and depression. Over 200 parents, students, and community members attended the event.
Community Celebration of Life: Moving From Grief to Hope - 2011
One of the first programs ever put on the by the coalition, the Community Celebration of Life, was a collaboration between CCFW and various faith based organizations in the community.
Crisis Call Center
The Coalition was instrumental when it came to helping set up a crisis call center at the Moreau Community Center. (no longer in operation due to lack of funding)
